I have no idea what kind of plane this is but the bright colors really caught my eye.

Hi Randy. This is a beautiful paint job! This is an RV-6. It looks like a piggy back (one seat in front of the other, but I can't tell by picture. Two friends of mine that I fly with, built an RV-6A side by side. It took them 6 years to build, but now they have been flying it for about 5 years. It is awesome to fly loops in.I love your picture! :)

Thanks Hazel. I can't tell you if it is a two seater or not. I was using a 300mm telephoto and monopod so I wasn't very close. What I know about planes you can put in a thimble, but if you watch this week I have some really nice shots of other planes. 6 years to build. Boy they must have really wanted to see that RV-6A flying! I watched several planes do loops today and got sick just looking at themMelissa A. Mannon July 31, 2005
Hi Randy! My husband is down in the basement right now building his RV9. He thinks the plane in this photo is either an RV4 or an RV8. (Please don't shoot the messenger Hazel if you don't agree! I know very little about planes.) The paint is beautiful and I like your picture. Where was it taken? #1659660Tony Wilder August 20, 2005
another great image, good job! congrats #1739604Randy Wilson August 21, 2005
Thanks for the compliments. I am very pleased this one made it as a finalist. Sorry I haven't responded to Melissa. The photo was taken at the Elkhart Air Show in Elkhart, Indiana. I haven't attended this show very often but the people who schedule the event are working to make sure there is a different variety of planes each year. So there may be another BetterPhoto.com finalist there next year! #1747408Hazel H. Cromer August 21, 2005
Congrats Randy. I knew this one would make it with its great comp, colors, and DOF. I deleted my pics above from my gallery and thought that it deleted it from this posting. I am so sorry. I now know not to post pictures to other people's postings since you can't delete them after seeing them.Congratulations on a well deserved finalists win. I think this will be in the winner's circle.
